WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team will face off against Princeton in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, as announced during Monday night's selection show.
The Black Knights (25-9, 5-2 PL) and the Tigers (11-10, 6-1 Ivy League) will play at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7 on the campus of No. 5 Virginia. On the other side of the regional bracket, the Cavaliers (20-5, 10-3 ACC) will take on Youngstown State (13-9, 5-1 Horizon League).
"I feel beyond blessed to be representing Army West Point with this team," team captain Stephanie Dolehide said. "We're so excited to play our hearts out in the same the way that we did all throughout the Patriot League Tournament. This team is full of grit and we empower one another. We support each other through everything. It's our time to show what we're made of. All of the work that we have put in this year is about to pay off."
Army will be making its 16th appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since a 2019 trip to No. 10 Washington.
The Cadets officially secured their spot in the postseason when they made a thrilling run in the conference tournament as the third seed and upset No. 1 Boston University in the championship match. Patriot League Tournament MVP Paola Bou clinched the 4-1 win for the Black Knights with a hard-fought victory at No. 4 singles.
Princeton will be making its third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and 16th in program history. The Tigers defeated No. 56 Columbia with a clean, 4-0 sweep to lock up their spot. In the final ITA team rankings of the regular season, Princeton checked in at 42nd in the team standings.
