Women’s Tennis Falls to Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, FLA. – Army's West Point women's tennis team (12-6) fell to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (8-3) 7-0 Monday morning. Army's Maria Drobotova and Isabella Brilliant won their doubles match.
How it Happened
The Eagles took the doubles point after Emma Bardet and Ida Ferding defeated Amry's Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Maria Drobotova and Isabella Brilliant defeated Jordana Ossa and Alba Retortillo 7-6 in the No. 2 position. In the third spot, Florida Gulf Coast's Isabella Colmenares and Fanny Norin defeated McKinnley Smith and Anna Loureiro 6-4.
In the singles matches, Florida Gulf Coast continued where they left off. Even though the Eagles swept the Black Knights in the singles matches, in the third position, Army went into a tiebreakers set in the #3 spot, after Florida Gulf Coast's Isabella Colmenares won the second set. In the No. 6 spot, Anna Loureiro stayed in the fight, tying everything up the second set, however Florida Gul Coast's Gabriela Macias defeated Loureiro in two sets, 6-2, 7-6.
