Softball Completes Three-Game Sweep of Colgate

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team (19-35, 9-8 PL) finished the three-game sweep vs. the Colgate Raiders (17-30, 6-11 PL), winning 8-7 on Senior Day to finish off the Patriot League regular season.
The Black Knights will be the #3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament next weekend (Thursday, May 11 – Saturday, May 13) hosted by the #1 overall seed Boston University. The tournament between four teams will be in a double-elimination format.
Army scored first when Ashton White scored on a wild pitch in the second inning. Army would plate another in the third on an RBI single up the middle from Angelina Bebek.
The Black Knights would score three in the fourth. White scored on a wild pitch again, followed by an RBI single by Grace Snyder.
Alicyn Grete would then triple to right field, scoring Julia Farris.
In the top of the fifth, Colgate's offense exploded to score seven runs to take the lead, 7-5. It started with a two-run double by Alexis Romero, followed by an RBI single by Jillian Herbst, then a two-run double by Quinn Livsay.
In the bottom half of the fifth, freshman Taylor Brown belted a solo home run to left field to bring Army back within one.
Down one in the bottom of the seventh, Taylor Brown hit a leadoff double to kickstart the inning. Ashton White would single up the middle to bring home the tying run.
With White on second base, Senior Kaci Donaldson walked it off singling to right field to score White and send Army home with an 8-7 win and a three-game weekend sweep over Colgate.
