Women's Soccer Dominates Colorado College 3-0 To Earn Second Straight Win
September 10, 2023 | Women's Soccer
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team picked up its second consecutive win on Sunday afternoon against Colorado College by a score of 3-0.
It's the Black Knights first win over the Tigers in the series history.
Much like its game against Air Force, Army held most of the ball in the first half.
The Black Knights had two shots on target in the half and the back line held Colorado College without a shot on frame in the first 45.
Brigid Duffy had the best chance in the first half but the keeper was able to get her hands on it.
The second half was a carbon copy of the first, Army held the ball in the Colorado College half and got consistent pressure on the Tiger keeper. It was only a matter of time before the flood gates opened. And once they opened, they opened fast.
Army finally got its breakthrough in the 62nd minute with a little déjà vu of Thursday night. Madison Niebish sent a cross into the head of Kaitlin Palaian who sent it past the keeper giving the Black Knights the lead.
20 minutes later Brigid Duffy weaved through the Tiger backline after a great feed from Kaelan Bradley and worked her way around keeper to go up 2-0.
Just five minutes later, Madison Nichols scored her first career goal to give the Black Knights a 3-0 lead.
That lead would stick, and Army would get its second consecutive win.
