Women's Soccer Wins Instant Classic Over Air Force 2-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team won an instant classic over Air Force on Thursday night at Malek Stadium by a score of 2-1.
In a game that Black Knights kept constant pressure on the Falcons it was the perfect storm to finally get their first win of the season.
For the first time all season, Army dominated first half possession and brought the pressure to the opponent.
The first chance came from Madison Niebish in the 16th minute but the Falcons keeper made the save.
Seven minutes later, Brigid Duffy sent one off the frame and followed it up with a shot on goal shortly after but neither found the back of the net.
Air Force took the lead in the 41st minute on a goal from Caeli Sherman.
The second half opened with a hour and a half lightning delay in the 70th minute.
Once play resumed the Black Knights got after the Falcons.
It all started in the 78th minute when Jordan Follenweider got fouled in the box. Kaelan Bradley stepped up to the spot and buried the game tying goal to the keepers left.
Then after continued pressure and chances, in the 89th minute, Niebish sent a cross in that found the head of Kaitlin Palaian who slotted it home to give Army not only the lead, but the win over their rival Air Force.
The Black Knights return to action on Sunday to take on Colorado College at 1 pm at Malek Stadium.
