Sharpshooters Defeat North Georgia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Army West Point rifle team's 4679-4643 defeat of the University of North Georgia Sunday snapped a two-match losing streak. The Black Knights swept both disciples improving to 6-3 following their first spring win held at a neutral site hosted by Kentucky in Morgantown. W.Va.
Army dominated, claiming the individual leaders in both disciplines. Anusha Pakkam's 584 led a sweep of the top three sports in smallbore as the Black Knights grabbed five of the first six outpointing the Nighthawks, 2330-2297. Briggs Moore earned medalist honors in air (592) as the Cadets captured three of the top four spots en route to pulling out a three-point (2349-2346) win over North Georgia.
It was the second straight meet over the weekend that Moore was Army's top scorer in air after placing fourth in the Black Knights' meet Saturday against No. 1-ranked West Virginia. Moore's 592 bested the Nighthawks' Elysa Walter for medalist honors by a point.
Joining him on the podium were Pakkam and Claudia Sigel, placing third and fourth, respectively, posting identical 588 marks. Chris Jennings (581) and Ashton Arlington (578) rounded out Armey's leaders finishing ninth and tenth in that discipline.
Pakkam's 584 mark in smallbore edged teammates Claudia Sigel and Kyle Kutz by a point for top honors after besting both in standing. Jennings (580) and Moore (578) placed fifth and sixth respectively as Army captured five of the top six spots.
The Nighthawks Walter's posted the highest aggregate score with an 1173 in besting Pakkam (1172), Sigel (1171) and Moore (1170) for that honor.
