WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army rifle head coach Leighton Dempster has announced the team's 2026-27 match schedule. Dempster enters her fifth season at the helm, guiding the Black Knights as members of the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC).
The Black Knights put a historic stamp on their 2025-26 season under head coach Leighton Dempster, highlighted by a program-record aggregate score of 4714 to place fourth at the GARC Championships. Sophomore Addison Antwiler spearheaded the postseason run, capturing the individual aggregate title (1176) at the NCAA Qualifier before becoming the program's first individual NCAA smallbore championship qualifier under Dempster, ultimately placing 31st nationally. Freshmen Ashton Arlington (12th in smallbore at GARCs) and senior Chris Jennings (team-high 595 air rifle at GARCs) anchored the team's depth, while the program's culture was celebrated clear of the firing line with the GARC Sportsmanship Award and Bohan Yang's selection as GARC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Army opens the season at home, hosting West Virginia at the Tronsue Rifle Range on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The Black Knights then hit the road for back-to-back weekends, traveling to Texas for matches against TCU on Oct. 10–11, before returning home on Oct. 24 to host John Jay, URI, and Maritime.
In a major highlight of the fall slate, West Point will play host to the annual President's Trophy Match. Army will welcome service academy rivals Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard to home facilities on Sunday, Nov. 8, just one day after hosting USAFA in a standalone match on Nov. 7.
The spring portion of the schedule features a heavy dose of conference action, starting with a home weekend over MLK Day weekend, hosting Akron and Jacksonville State on Jan. 16–17. The annual Star Match against Navy is set for Saturday, Feb. 6, in Annapolis, as part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. Army will wrap up its home slate on Saturday, Feb. 13, celebrating Senior Day against Memphis and Coast Guard, followed by the NCAA Qualifier at home on Feb. 20.
The GARC Championships will be hosted by West Virginia in Morgantown, W.V., from Feb. 27–28, with the NCAA Championships scheduled for March 12–13 in Statesboro, Ga., hosted by Georgia Southern.
The GARC includes Army, Navy, Memphis, West Virginia, Akron, and Kentucky.
