Women’s Basketball Dominates Mount Saint Mary College in Non-Conference Finale

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point Women's Basketball team (8-2) closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a commanding 85-36 victory over Mount Saint Mary College (4-5).
Eleven Black Knights contributed to the scoring effort, led by Kya Smith and Camryn Tade with 13 points apiece. Smith and Fiona Hastick controlled the boards, each grabbing eight rebounds. Trinity Hardy spearheaded the defensive effort with a season-high six steals.
Freshman Stella Chartrand and Audrey Annee made notable contributions, scoring their first career points in the Army uniform. Annee tallied nine points, all from beyond the arc, with three made three-pointers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Army opened the game with relentless energy, asserting dominance from the tip-off. Reese Ericson ignited the scoring with a three-pointer off a second-chance opportunity, followed by Kya Smith's fast-break layup to make it 5-0. The Black Knights' stifling defense forced multiple turnovers, leading to Camryn Tade's layup and Brooke Wilson's mid-range jumper. Taylor Wilson capped off the first quarter with a fast-break three-pointer, giving Army a commanding 28-11 lead.
In the second quarter, Army elevated its defensive intensity, holding Mount Saint Mary to just three points. Audrey Annee sparked the offense with two three-pointers, including one in transition, while Kya Smith dominated the paint with second-chance points and layups. Capitalizing on turnovers, Sam Tillson and Brooke Wilson added to the tally with points off steals. By halftime, the Black Knights had extended their lead to an overwhelming 51-14.
The third quarter saw no letup from Army. Smith continued her strong performance, scoring a contested layup and converting an and-one opportunity. Camryn Tade and Taylor Wilson added clutch three-pointers, while Fiona Hastick chipped in with key baskets and defensive rebounds. The Black Knights outscored Mount Saint Mary 22-13 in the period, ending with a 73-27 lead.
The final quarter showcased Army's depth and precision. Reese Ericson drained a three-pointer early, and Trinity Hardy powered through the paint for a driving layup. Taylor Wilson sealed the dominant performance with another three-pointer. Despite a late three-pointer from Mount Saint Mary, Army cruised to an emphatic 85-36 victory.
