Men's Tennis Downs Hofstra and Marist at Home

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's tennis (7-9, 0-0 Patriot League) had a 2-1 weekend overall at home, falling to Drexel (9-4, 1-1 CAA) before picking up wins over Hofstra (3-8, 0-2 CAA) and Marist (4-8, 0-0 MAAC).

The Black Knights were able to host its first outdoors match of the season on Friday against Drexel, eventually falling by a score of 6-1. Marcus Sebastian and Alan Ton collected a doubles win on court three in the contest, while Samuel Haikal tabbed the lone point on the singles courts with a (7-6, 6-4) win.

Returning indoors on Sunday against Hofstra, Sebastian and Ton continued their doubles prowess with a 6-3 win as Paul Roberts and Daniel Zhou also came out on top to give Army the pivotal doubles point. Ton then posted a (6-3, 6-3) win at flight five while Sebastian also recorded a two-sit win on court six (6-3, 7-6). Needing one more point to clinch the match as Hofstra had made it a 3-2 scoreline, Haikal came through for the Black Knights in the third set (6-3, 1-6, 6-1) to secure the 4-2 victory for Army.

With its second matchup of the day against Marist, Army once again took the doubles point to go ahead 1-0. Vishnu Bodavula and Jake Huarte had a 6-2 win on court one before Michael Rooney and Haikal clinched on court three with a 6-2 win. Ton continued his strong weekend with a two-set win (6-1, 7-5) on court four, as Army got out to a 3-0 lead following a Jack Hanna (6-4, 6-4) triumph on court six. With the other four matches all going to a third set, Daniel Zhou was the first to breakthrough and clinched the 4-0 win for Army at flight one (3-6, 6-4, 6-3).
