Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 22-9 Senior Day Victory Over American

WEST POINT, NY – Army West Point women's lacrosse (6-6, 4-1 Patriot League) defeated American (5-8, 1-5 Patriot League) by a score of 22-9 on senior day from Michie Stadium.
It marked four straight victories for the Black Knights with each win coming by a double-digit margin. Army's 22 goals marked a season-high as eight different Black Knights registered a goal while ten recorded a point.
Carleigh Armstrong had a team-high five goals on her senior day, while classmate Julia Gorajek added four goals. Madeline Lenkart logged five draw controls, three ground balls and an assist in the effort.
Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly each extended their streaks of recording eight-plus points to four consecutive games, as Duffy logged four goals and four assists while Reilly registered three goals and five helpers. Duffy added a robust ten draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls to a remarkable effort.
Ramsey Barrows netted the first two goals of her career, while Gabrielle Mirak also had a two-goal effort in the win. Lily Valentini finished with a goal and assist, while Brooke Stocku recorded her first career point with an assist.
The Black Knights came out on fire in the first quarter, getting out to an 8-0 lead through the first 15 minutes of action. Lindsey Serafine was not tested in the cage for Army in the first frame, and recorded two first half saves before being relieved by seniors Lacey Bartholomay and Tietjen Spoor in the final half hour.
Armstrong wasted no time on her senior day, tabbing the first two goals of the game as Army took a quick multi-goal lead and never looked back. Reilly scored the next for the Black Knights with an assist from Valentini, before Valentini returned the favor to Reilly.
Armstrong followed it up with a goal before Gorajek netted two quick ones of her own and Army led 7-0 under 11 minutes into the contest. A late tally in the frame from Duffy capped a dominant 8-0 start for the Black Knights who took that lead into the second frame. Army outshot the Eagles 14-2 in the opening 15 minutes while securing eight of the first nine draw controls.
American fought back in the second frame, notching six goals across the quarter as the offense broke out of its slump. The comeback hopes remained slim however, as Army matched American throughout the frame with Gorajek netting her first half hat trick and Armstrong securing her fourth. Remaly, Mirak and Duffy added tallies and Army took an eventual 13-6 lead into halftime.
Duffy and Reilly opened the second half with goals, as Reilly had played distributor in the first half to the tune of four assists. Armstrong then matched her career-high with a fifth goal on Reilly's fifth assist, as Duffy then set up back-to-back goals with a score of her own and an assist to Barrows for her first career score. Once Reilly secured her hat trick and fourth consecutive eight-point effort, the running clock ran out in the third with a 19-8 scoreline in favor of Army.
The Black Knights continued to control the game as the final 15 minutes winded down, as Mirak collected her second of the game on Duffy's fourth assist for Army's season-high 20th goal of the game. Gorajek and Barrows added two more for good measure, as the Black Knights won all four draw controls in the final frame and limited the Eagles to just one shot on goal as they saw out the victory.
Army will ride its four-game winning streak into No. 19 Navy next Saturday, with opening draw set for 4:15 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
