Strohman Has Career Night as Army Falls 1-0 to Wake Forest

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a stellar goalkeeping performance from Sage Strohman. The senior captain finished the night making 14 saves in the narrow 1-0 loss to ACC foe Wake Forest.
Strohman's 14 saves are the most by an Army keeper since Sep. 5, 2014 when Jordan Cassalia made 15 stops against Delaware.
The only goal in the game came in the 41st minute after a great play by the Demon Deacon. It was going to take an insane play to get one past Sage, and that's what Wake Forest got.
Wake Forest held the majority of the possession and racked up 15 shots on goal and 29 shots total compared to one on goal by the Black Knights. Time and time again, Strohman came up massive for Army. This game served as a great building block for a team going for its third consecutive Patriot League regular season title.
Next up is a matchup with Manhattan back at home on Sunday Aug. 18 at 1 PM in Malek Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
