Men’s Rugby to Face Navy in Star Match

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point men's rugby is set to conclude the fall schedule in the only fitting way.
Playing Navy.
The Black Knights face the Midshipmen in the men's rugby iteration of the Star Series presented by USAA on Saturday at Anderson Rugby Complex, with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m. The match will come just after the Army vs. Navy sprint football game next door at Shea Stadium.
"It's always a privilege to be a part of this storied and sacred rivalry that means so much to both institutions. We've been very happy with our growth and progression this fall, and we remain primarily focused on continuing that performance climb upward into this game. Navy is a strong team, deserving of their record and rank, but we also feel that we're a very strong team prepared to meet this moment, and we're looking forward to the battle ahead," said head coach Matt Sherman.
Saturday's affair will be streamed on YouTube.
Army heads into the fixture 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in Rugby East Play, with its only loss at perennial power Life.
The Black Knights seek their first win vs. Navy since 2021-22, a 24-17 decision at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md.
Army has already claimed a win over an academy rival this season as it looks for its second, following a 52-7 win at Air Force on Halloween evening.
Last time out, the Black Knights knocked off Penn State 55-14, following multi-try outings from John Benson, Chance Loudenback and Isaac Gamboa. Benson and Loudenback each have 30 points on the season and trail just Howie Heller's 51 total points in that department.
The match vs. Navy concludes the Fall 2025 schedule. The Spring 2026 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
