Sharpshooters Host Alaska Fairbanks & Navy This Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point rifle team faces a tough challenge closing out its fall slate this weekend at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center. The Black Knights take on No. 8 Alaska Fairbanks in a dual match Saturday (8 a.m.), followed by a triangular that includes the Nanooks and Navy Sunday at 8 a.m.
A young Black Knight squad (3-5) is looking to turn in a strong effort against the Nanooks, the 2025 NCAA defending smallbore champions, and Navy, tied for third in the latest CRCA rankings.
Army just missed tying the school record in smallbore earlier this month with a season-high 2338, against Air Force in a dual match.
Sunday's triangular, to include Navy, is not the "Star" match, which is scheduled for Feb. 14, at West Point. However, it will be the second time in the fall that the two schools have competed in a match. Navy captured the President's Trophy Match, knocking off 11-time defending champion Air Force to claim its first title since 2008, with the Black Knights placing third.
After closing out the first half of the season following the weekend's schedule, Army returns to the range Jan. 17 to host North Georgia. The Black Knights outpointed the Nighthawks, 4670-4618, earlier this year.
