Track and Field Set to Open 2025-26 Season with Crowell Invite
December 04, 2025 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point track and field programs are set to open its indoor season by hosting the Crowell Invite at Gillis Field House on Friday and Saturday.
Army is coming off a strong 2024-25 season that saw its women's program win the Patriot League Championship for the first time in 16 years while the men's team had an impressive second place finish at the championships.
"We are excited to get the season started. The first meet is always something that we look forward to after the fall training grind," Director of Track and Field Mike Smith said. "We have over 40 newcomers to our track and field team that will get to show what they can do. We have seen them practice and we know what kind of talent they possess but competition is a different level of intensity from practice, and we will learn a lot about our competitive level this weekend. Additionally, we return a very talented, veteran group of upperclassmen and they are ready to make their mark on the Patriot League and beyond. We have added an extra day to the Crowell schedule with a complete heptathlon for the men for the first time and a competitive slate of events on the track. The Crowell is the start of what will be a continuous competition schedule of indoor meets and outdoor meets (almost every weekend) that will culminate in June with the USA Championships. We are ready to go."
Over 10 programs will be joining Army in a competitive slate of events that will kick off on Friday afternoon with the heptathlon, pentathlon, and the men's and women's 5K races.
The heptathlon will wrap up on Saturday morning. Throwing and running events will follow, with competition expected to wrap up around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Crowell Invite is the first of five home meets for Army this season.
