Golf Starts Spring Season in Puerto Rico

DORADO, Puerto Rico – The Army West Point golf team kicked off its 2025 spring season in the first round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach and currently is in a tie for 14th on the team leaderboard.
The Black Knights finished round one with a team score of 294 (+6). The hosts from UNC Greensboro lead the field at 15-under par as a team. There is a three-way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard at 7-under par with Wintrop's Jeff Nelson, Bryant's Matthew Downes and UNCG's Kelvin Hernandez leading the way.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Josh Kim, who is playing as an individual, was Army's top golfer on Sunday with a 2-under 70.
• Kim finished with four birdies and eagled the par-5 ninth hole to post a 34 on the front nine.
• Drew Jeffords started his spring season off with an even par 72, including five birdies.
• John Heckel Jr., Dragon Theam, Tyson Sparks and Griffin Garvin all finished 2-over on the day.
