Women’s Basketball Prepares for Home Semifinal vs. Bucknell

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball (23-6) seeded No. 2 in the Patriot League tournament team gets set to host the No. 6 seeded Bucknell Bison (17-14) on Thursday evening in the Patriot League semifinal with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday.
Army was victorious on Monday night defeating Lafayette by 15 points, 55-40. Army was led by its all-conference trio of Reese Ericson, Trinity Hardy, and Fiona Hastick who combined to score 28 of Army's 38 second-half points to secure the victory. Army outscored Lafayette by 13 and improved to shoot 44% in the second half to control the game.
Bucknell won 63-58 in the quarterfinals upsetting three-seeded Colgate on Monday night on the road. Patriot League Player of the Year Ashley Sofilkanich led Bucknell with 28 points on an efficient 11 of 14 shooting from the floor.
Tip-off between the Black Knights and the Bison is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday (3/13) and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
The winner advances to the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Championship Game on Sunday, March 16, and will face the winner of No. 5 Holy Cross/No. 1 Lehigh. The championship game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and tip-off at 12 pm EST and will be played at the highest remaining seed.
Army and Bucknell split the season series with both teams earning double-digits on their home courts, both games coming last month in February.
In the first meeting vs. the Bison, an Army loss, Reese Ericson recorded a career-high 28 points, breaking Bucknell's opponent record for most three-pointers in Sojka Pavilion and tying Army's program record with eight made threes in the game. She shot 8-13 (61.5%) from downtown.
In the second meeting, an Army win on senior day, freshman Sam Tillson scored a career-high 17 points on a 56% shooting percentage, including three of four three-point shots. Fiona Hastick followed with 13 points, while sole senior Trinity Hardy had a team-high seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals while contributing nine points.
