May 28, 2025 | Softball
WEST POINT, N.Y. — Sophomore pitcher Katelyn Flanders was selected as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Finalist, as well as was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
The 2025 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The sophomore becomes the first Black Knight to be named a finalist since 2007, when Lindsey Gerheim was named to the All-America Third Team.
Katelyn Flanders earns the honor after finishing the year leading the Black Knights' pitching unit with a 2.37 ERA, second lowest in the Patriot League. Flanders also led the conference with a team-best .213 opponent batting average and finished the season with 93 strikeouts. She also threw Army's first no-hitter in program history since 2016 on March 28 versus Bucknell.
Flanders also received multiple honors through the 2025 season. The sophomore ace was named to the Patriot League All-League First Team and the Patriot League All-League Academic Team. She was also named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career this season.
On the academic side, the sophomore boasts a 3.97 cumulative GPA, majoring in nuclear engineering.
She has been named to the Dean's List three times in her career, alongside being named Distinguished Cadet (Top 5% in Class), and has earned the Superintendent's Award for Achievement. She also presented her research on radiation shields at Projects Day.
First-, second- and third-team CSC Academic All-America honorees will be announced at 12 p.m. on June 17.
