BRISTOL, Conn. – Army West Point men's lacrosse senior Christian Mazur, a short-stick defensive midfielder, was selected as the 24th overall pick in the third round of the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft on Tuesday by the Maryland Whipsnakes.
Mazur is the fourth Black Knight ever be drafted to the PLL since its debut in 2019 and Army's first player named in the draft since Brendan Nichtern went ninth overall in the 2022 draft to the Chrome Lacrosse Club. Nichtern was preceded by Tom Rigney in 2020 who went fourth overall to the Chrome Lacrosse Club in 2020 and by Johnny Surdick who went sixth overall to the Chaos in 2019.
Mazur was a key piece in Army's midfield this season, producing on both sides of the ball to help Army to a 12-2 season.
The Media, Pa. native earned his first All-Patriot League selection this season as he was named to the First Team All-Patriot League in late April. Mazur an inescapable presence on both ends of the field, picking up 17 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers while also scoring a career-best six points from career highs of two goals and four assists.
With Mazur's influence in the midfield, the Black Knights outperformed their opponents in ground balls, caused turnovers, goals, assists, and points as well as going 313-of-356 clears compared to their foes' 286-of-343 mark as they worked their way to their fifth 12-win season in the past ten years.
The Black Knights were a staggering defensive force in their 2025 campaign, leading the nation in scoring defense (6.85) and scoring margin (7.46), tying for the best win percentage in the nation (.923), and standing second in the nation for assists per game (10.00) across their regular season campaign to earn their 16th Patriot League Regular Season Championship following an 18-6 win over Loyola Maryland.
With Mazur's aid, the Army defense held its opponents to just 105 goals with only 279 shots on goal for Army's opponents across 14 games. The Black Knights outscored their opponents 338 points to 172 with 717 total shots from Army's offense.
