WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point men's lacrosse and Jack Emmer Head Men's Lacrosse Coach announced Friday the addition of Ian Moore to the team's coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Moore, a New Hampshire native, arrives at West Point following an impressive three-year term as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at UMass Lowell where he helped the River Hawks earn a trio of All-America East Team selections, coached the team to top five all-time program statistics rankings in nine categories, and grew the team's success in the classroom. Moore has a strong background in collegiate men's lacrosse, as he spent time with the Ohio State, Lafayette, and Ursinus College men's lacrosse coaching staffs prior to his time at UMass Lowell.
"I am excited for Coach Moore to be joining the Army Lacrosse Family," commented Alberici. "His energy, work ethic and attention to detail will continue to elevate the cadet-athlete experience on and off the field."
Prior to his years with UMass Lowell, Moore spent a year with Ohio State as a volunteer assistant coach. He helped coach the Buckeyes to a 2022 NCAA Tournament berth, a USILA All-American Honorable Mention, and the Ohio State all-time program records for career faceoff wins and ground balls.
As a player, Moore played at Ursinus College where he served as team captain and helped lead the Bears to their first appearance in the Centennial Conference Championships, earn a national ranking of 12th, and secure the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance and subsequent victory in 2015.
Over his four seasons with the Bears, Moore totaled 36 goals and 49 points, picked up a total of 51 ground balls, and recorded seven caused turnovers. He ranked fourth on the team in total goals as a senior, helping push the Bears to their first NCAA Tournament appearance where they defeated Cabrini University before falling 10-9 to Gettysburg College in double-overtime.
