Men’s Soccer Earns Trio of Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After an impressive and undefeated week, Army West Point men's soccer's Michael Guiry, Kelly Cooper and Jack Meyer earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
It's the second time this season a Black Knight has been recognized, as Cooper earned defensive player of the week on Sept. 1. This marks the first time since Sept. 18, 2023, that multiple Army players earned player of the week honors the same week.
Guiry, who earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, had a pair of shutout wins while making 10 saves. Against Boston U., on Saturday night, Guiry was nails in the second half, making eight saves to preserve the shutout and help Army start 1-0-0 in conference play. On the season, Guiry is 3-0-1 with a 91.3 save percentage while allowing just 0.50 goals per game. He leads the Patriot League in save percentage – 15thnationally – and goals against average – 25th nationally.
Cooper, who now has two Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors, scored the game-winning goal in Saturday night's clash. The goal, scored in the 38th minute, was the first of his collegiate career. He played all 180 minutes this week and was crucial to the two shutout performances posted this week by the Black Knights.
Meyer earns his first Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honor after recording the primary assist on Cooper's game-winning goal against Boston U., on Saturday night. It was the first assist of Meyer's career. He was also crucial to possession control and the team's strong defensive play.
Freshman Nicolas Berardi and Jack De Simone were named honorable mentions by the conference. De Simone scored the game-winning goal over Villanova on Monday night, while Berardi had a secondary assist on Cooper's goal on Saturday.
Army is back in action on Tuesday night as it travels to Stony Brook for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The match will be broadcast on FloSports.
