Army West Point Athletics

From the Desk of AD #31
September 18, 2025 | General
Hello Army West Point Community,
Welcome to another edition of From the Desk of the AD – a platform from my perspective to keep you informed, engaged, and connected with everything happening in Army West Point Athletics and the Army West Point Athletic Association. Through this message, I'll be sharing important department updates, celebrating the accomplishments of our outstanding cadet-athletes, and offering insights into the dynamic world of college athletics. All of this is grounded in the four pillars of our Fruits of Victory strategic plan: Competitive Success, Delivering an Extraordinary Division I Experience, Public Engagement and Revenue Generation, and Sustainability.
Football's Statement Win at Kansas State
Army football delivered a signature 24-21 win at Kansas State two weekends ago. The Black Knights limited the Wildcats to just over three minutes of possession in the second half while earning our first true road win over a Power Conference opponent since 2016. It was a proud moment for Coach Monken and the football brotherhood! A special win and one I will never forget.Â
Cheer on the Black Knights in Annapolis!

Taking on the ACFT
I recently had the chance to take the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) with some of our cadet-athletes. It was a challenging experience (still sore), but one that reminded me of the dedication, discipline, and perseverance our cadet-athletes show every day. And it's a great way to connect with them in a different environment.Â

Soccer Stays Hot
Our men's and women's soccer programs combined to go 3-0 last week, continuing their strong starts to the season. Both teams are competing with confidence and showing the grit that defines Army soccer.Â
Celebrating a Milestone Victory
Last week, several SLT members and I presented Head Coach Jenn Salomon-Clayton with a game ball in recognition of her first win as head coach. The moment marked an exciting milestone for Army West Point Women's rugby and a great way to kick off the season under her leadership. Winning matters at the United States Military Academy and we are excited to see Coach take this program to new heights.Â
