Wrestling Returns to Dual Action vs. Cornell and American
January 15, 2026 | Wrestling
ITHACA, NY. – Army West Point Wrestling returns to dual action this weekend, for its first dual matches since December when it takes on Cornell in Ithaca on January 16, before returning home to face American at USMAPS on January 18.
The Black Knights' faceoff with American will serve as the squad's EIWA opener.
Army is still seeking its first dual win of 2025-26, after falling in a trio of duals vs. Big Ten Conference foes before the new year. The Black Knights see five wrestlers ranked in both the Intermat and FloWrestling rankings, with four of the five in each ranking slotted in both polls.
Cornell—ranked No. 21 in the NWCA team rankings—is the fourth ranked squad Army has faced in as many duals so far this season.
Live results for both duals will be available on TrackWrestling. ESPN+ will stream Army's dual at Cornell.
So far in 2025-26, the Black Knights have posted 10 individual tournament titles, most recently when Austin Kohlfofer took the David Lehman F&M Open heavyweight title at Franklin & Marshall on January 9. Before that display in Lancaster, Pa., Army was in action at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., where Gunner Filipowicz's second place finish at 165 lbs highlighted a six-placewinner outing for Army.
Army's trip to Cornell serves as a homecoming for Class of 1972 Head Men's Wrestling Coach Troy Nickerson. A 2010 graduate of Cornell, Nickerson was a standout for the Big Red from 2006–10, earning four NCAA All-America honors and capturing the 2009 NCAA Championship at 125 pounds with an undefeated 25-0 season.
