Last-Minute Push Falls Short, Hockey Tripped Up in Overtime at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Army West Point hockey (11-14-5, 6-13-3 Atlantic Hockey America) hit the road for a midweek matchup against the Bentley Falcons (16-8-5, 14-3-4 Atlantic Hockey America).
The Falcons built an early lead before Army found its stride later in the game, tying the game at three goals each with two minutes left in the third period to send the game to overtime where Bentley's offense struck again to secure the win.
JJ Cataldo returned to the ice for Army where the sophomore goaltender tallied 24 saves against Bentley's 28 total shots on goal.
Bentley posted Nicholas Bevilacqua in goal where the Falcon posted 26 saves against Army's 29 shots on goal.
Bentley jumped out to an early lead, scoring two goals in the13th minute of action to set a rapid pace of play that kept up throughout the remainder of the contest.
The Falcons extended their lead five minutes into the second period, amassing a three-goal lead before the Black Knights found their feet.
Army's squad turned the tide as the second period continued, climbing onto the scoreboard with just over three minutes remaining the period as Jack Ivey capitalized on a power-play opportunity to score his ninth goal of the season.
The Black Knights dominated the third period, tallying 11 shots on goal to Bentley's four.
Nik Hong secured the second goal of the night for Army midway through the period, firing a shot from a sharp angle to the left of the goal that slipped past Bevilacqua and brought Army within one of the Falcons.
Army continued to hammer its offense against Bentley's defense as Ben Ivey struck on an extra-man opportunity for Army with two and a half minutes remaining in the game to bring the score tied at three goals each.
The Black Knights embarked on their tenth overtime period of the season, but the Falcons leaned on the energy from their home crowd and scored two minutes into overtime to seal the overtime win for the home team.
