Gymnastics Earns Win Over William & Mary in Tri-Meet at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Army West Point gymnastics went 1-1 on Saturday afternoon with a win over ECAC opponent William & Mary and a loss to B1G opponent Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. The Black Knights earned a 308.100 team score, the highest team score this season so far, while William & Mary earned a 305.100 and Ohio State earned a 320.650.
On the Floor Exercise, freshman Thomas Morrow continued his success from last weekend against Simpson and earned a 13.400. Morrow was the highest finisher for the Black Knights and finished tied for third individually. As a team, Army earned a 52.650 securing the highest team score on the apparatus this season so far. Following into the second event of the afternoon, the Pommel Horse, sophomore Jake Prabhakaran earned the highest score for Army finishing in fourth place. Freshman Felipe Junqueira secured a sixth-place finish on the Pommel Horse, earning a new career high with a 13.050.
In the Rings, Army senior Carter Beck earned a 12.500 and was the highest finisher from Army. Army's success came in the vault, where Nick Lester secured his third event title so far this season on the apparatus. Lester was flawless earned a 14.100 to take home the title. Jaden Blank earned an eighth-place finish with a 13.200.
On the Parallel Bars, the Black Knights took home sixth place thru ninth place to earn a 50.700 team score on the event. Cash Johnston earned sixth place with a 12.850, Blank earned a 12.800 to earn seventh place. Jacob Brenner earned a 12.550 to take home seventh place and Lester earned a 12.500 to take home ninth place. In the final event of the afternoon, Horizontal Bar, Johnston earned a new career high with a 13.400 and finished in fourth place individually. Blank finished in sixth place with a 13.150.

The Black Knights will next be in action at home for senior day on March 7 at 1 p.m. at the Gross Center in a tri-meet against Greenville and Springfield.
