JJ Cataldo, Jack Ivey Earn All-Atlantic Hockey America Team Honors
March 11, 2026 | Hockey
BOSTON, Mass. – Army West Point hockey sophomores JJ Cataldo and Jack Ivey earned All-Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Team honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Cataldo claimed a spot on the First Team All-AHA while Ivey garnered Second Team All-AHA honors for his efforts this season.
The recognitions mark Cataldo's first selection to the All-AHA teams and Ivey's second appearance on the lists after earning a spot on the 2024-25 AHA All-Rookie Team last season.
"JJ is extremely deserving of being named First Team All-AHA," commented head coach Zach McKelvie. "What has stood out about him all season is his consistency and the confidence he gives our group every night. Our team knows that when he's in net, we have a chance to win, and there were several games this year where he simply willed us to victory. Beyond his performance, JJ is a tremendous leader in our locker room and someone who is deeply respected by his teammates and coaches. We're very proud of him and this recognition is well earned."
Cataldo's selection to the First Team All-AHA follows an impressive season between the pipes for the sophomore goaltender. JJ Cataldo served as Army's primary starting goaltender with 79 goals allowed in 32 games for a .921 save percentage and a 2.48 goals against average (GAA).
He stands seventh in the nation in saves made (917) and stands eighth in the nation in save percentage among goalies who have played at least 20 games this season. Cataldo leads the AHA in total saves made and stands second in saves per game (28.66).
The Stuart, Fla. native stands second in the league in save percentage while his 2.48 GAA stands third among AHA goalies this season with at least 30 games played.
Among Army goaltenders in program history, Cataldo stands tied for ninth in total career shutouts (2), second in career save percentage (.921), and sixth in career GAA (2.44). Cataldo's 2025-26 season totals rank fifth in total saves made (917), ninth for GAA, and fifth for save percentage among Army's single season goaltending records.
"Jack had an outstanding season and is very deserving of being named Second Team All-AHA," said McKelvie. "He really drove our offense this year and has the ability to change a game with his goal-scoring ability. Jack played a key role in our success on the power play, but what makes him such a valuable player is how complete his game is. He impacts the game on both sides of the puck, competes every shift, and leads by example. He has a tremendous passion for the game and continues to get better every day, which is exciting for our program."
After finishing third on the team in overall points in 2024-25 with 25, Ivey returned to the ice ready to hit the ground running in 2025-26 as he paced the Black Knights this season with 28 points.
The San Diego, Calif. native led Army in total goals scored with 14 and finished third on the team in assists with 14. Ivey's goal total tied him for fourth in the league in total goals scored while his 0.40 goals per game average tied for seventh in the league.
Ivey was an offensive threat to Army's opponents, tallying a team-high 110 total shots across 35 total games played. He excelled on the power play, leading Army's skaters and finishing second in the AHA with seven power play goals this season – tied for the tenth-most power play goals in the nation by a single skater this season.
The forward contributed to all aspects of Army's game as he tallied nine blocks and earned six faceoff wins for the Black Knights. Ivey maintained his composure during his time on the ice, drawing just one minor penalty over the course of the season.
