No. 16/18 Women’s Lacrosse Leaps Over Leopards to Fifth Consecutive Victory

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point women's lacrosse earned their 50th Patriot League victory in program history on Friday evening defeating the Lafayette Leopards (4-6, 0-4 Patriot League) by a score of 22-6. Army (8-2, 4-0 Patriot League) was led by seniors Allison Reilly's 11 points and Brigid Duffy's five goals. In the victory, the Black Knights secured their highest shots and shots on goal totals with 45 and 34, respectively.

The Black Knights will travel to New Haven, Conn., to take on national ranked Ivy League foe Yale on Tuesday March 31. First draw is set for 12 p.m.

- Lafayette struck first at 13:39 on a free-position goal, but that would be the Leopards' only lead of the afternoon. Army flipped the game with a seven-goal run that showcased its depth, pace and command at the draw.
- Senior Allison Reilly ignited the surge, assisting on four straight Army goals in a span of just over three minutes. Her feed to senior Chloe Garrett tied the game at 10:37, and she followed with setups to junior Sarah Wood and junior Geneva Milch Cesoni as the Black Knights quickly built a 3–1 lead. Lafayette's Kristin Igneri briefly pulled the Leopards within one, but Army closed the quarter with three goals in the final minutes from Milch Cesoni, senior Lily Valentini and Garrett to take a 7–2 advantage into the break.
- The second quarter belonged entirely to Army. The Black Knights outscored Lafayette 9–1 in the quarter and repeatedly capitalized on Leopard penalties, scoring four man-up goals during a stretch in which Lafayette committed three cards in six minutes. Senior Brigid Duffy opened the quarter with a man-up strike at 13:58, and Reilly added another just 47 seconds later. Garrett, Reilly, senior Sarah Chernik and Emma Grace Hepler all found the net as Army's lead ballooned to 14–3. With Chernik and Helper scoring their first goals of the year. Milch Cesoni tacked on two more goals in the final five minutes, sending Army into halftime up 16–3, including a behind the back goal.
- Duffy took over in the third quarter, scoring four straight goals as Army extended the margin to 20–3. The Black Knights outscored the Leopards five to zero in the third quarter.
- Army's defense held Lafayette to just eight shots on goal through the first three quarters, while the Black Knights generated 45 total shots and 30 on frame. Garrett finished with three goals and two assists, Milch Cesoni added four goals, and Valentini scored twice in the opening period. Freshman Emma Ciocon closed Army's scoring with 1:37 left in the fourth.
- Goalkeeper Lindsey Serafine earned the win with three saves and three goals allowed in 45 minutes before giving way to Anderson Strange, who added three saves in relief.
- The Black Knights won 20 of 30 draws, with Chernik collecting eight and Duffy adding six, allowing Army to dictate tempo and maintain long stretches of possession. Lafayette struggled to advance the ball, failing seven clears and committing 17 turnovers under Army's pressure and defensive ride in the midfield.
