No. 14 Men's Lacrosse Hosts Patriot League Semifinals at Michie Stadium

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 14-ranked Army West Point (11-3, 6-2 Patriot League) men's lacrosse team welcomes opponents from around the Patriot League to West Point on Friday for the 2026 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse tournament. The Black Knights will face Lehigh (8-7, 4-4 Patriot League) in the first of two semifinal games at Michie Stadium on Friday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT

Army earned its 36th win over Colgate on Friday with a 17-6 victory over the Raiders at Michie Stadium.
Gunnar Fellows (2g, 3a) led the Black Knights' offense with five points followed by Evan Plunkett (1g, 3a) and Brayden Fountain (4g) with four points each.
Netminder Sean Byrne tallied 12 saves in the contest to bring him to 174 saves and a .604 save percentage in 2026.

National Rankings: The Black Knights earned a spot in three national polls this week. Army ranked 14th on the USILA Week 12 Coaches' Poll, 14th on the Inside Lacrosse Nike Lacrosse Week 12 Media Poll, and 16th in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll.

Patriot League Postseason Awards: For the third consecutive season, Army collected three of the Patriot League's major postseason awards. Evan Plunkett earned Offensive Player of the Year, John Sullivan earned Defensive Player of the Year, and Sean Byrne earned Goalkeeper of the Year. Keagan Treacy joined the trio on the First Team All-Patriot League while Hill Plunkett and Aiden Weisenborn represented Army on the Second Team All-Patriot League and Gunnar Fellows earned Patriot League All-Academic honors.

Scoring Surge: The Black Knights' sophomores and seniors have contributed a combined 253 of Army's total 286 points this season. The sophomores (a.k.a. yearlings or yuks) total a combined 129 while Army's seniors (a.k.a. firsties) are responsible for 124 of those points.

History in the Making: Seniors Evan Plunkett and Gunnar Fellows are steadily climbing Army's scoring records in their fourth season with the Black Knights. Plunkett stands 12th all-time with 179 total points while Fellows' 158 total points rank him 17th in program history.

The Pick Is In: Army saw one of its ranks selected in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft on Tuesday as Evan Plunkett heard his name called fourth overall by the Denver Outlaws.

National Leaderboard: Senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne currently stands second in the nation in save percentage (.604) and seventh in the nation in goals-against average (8.43).

A Tip of the Hat: At least one Black Knight has scored a hat trick in all 14 of Army's games this season with two hat tricks against Lafayette, Mercer, Michigan, Bucknell, and Navy. Brayden Fountain leads the way with seven hat tricks. Fountain, Hill Plunkett, and Evan Plunkett all earned hat tricks against Navy.

Mid-season All-Americans: Seniors Evan Plunkett and Sean Byrne each earned recognition as Nike Lacrosse Media Mid-season All-Americans in April. Plunkett earned First Team honors while Byrne earned a spot on the Third Team.

Series History: Army currently holds a 31-11 record against the Mountain Hawks, dating back to their first meeting in 1922 - a 5-1 win for Army. Army last faced Lehigh in the Patriot League tournament in 2023 - Army earned a 19-13 win in the semifinals at West Point.

Gunnar Fellows (senior, attack) – Second on the team with 30 goals this season, adds 15 assists for a tied-for-team-second 45 points this season. Among active NCAA DI players, stands 14^th in the nation in career goals (114) and 23^rd in career points (158). Currently stands 17^th among Army's all-time scoring leaders.
Sean Byrne (senior, goalkeeper) – Leads the Patriot League in goals against average (8.43) and in save percentage (.604). Stands second in the nation in save percentage and seventh in the nation in goals against average. Anchors an Army defense that ranks third in the nation in man-down defense (.844), fifth in the nation in scoring defense (8.64), and eighth in the nation in scoring margin (4.29).
John Sullivan (senior, defense) – Leads the Black Knights with 20 caused turnovers this season. Adds 24 ground balls to his stat line to help Army lead its opponents with 122 caused turnovers to 93 and 424 ground balls to 375 over 14 games played.
Keagan Treacy (senior, defensive midfielder) – Stands third on the team in caused turnovers with 11 and tallies 19 ground balls over the season. Helps run an Army midfield that holds its opponents to a .868 clear percentage and to a .156 extra-man percentage.
