Army West Point Athletics

From the Desk of AD #31
May 07, 2026 | General
Hello Army West Point Community,
Welcome back to another edition of From the Desk of the AD —- a platform to keep you informed, engaged, and connected with all that is happening across Army West Point Athletics and the Army West Point Athletic Association. Through these messages, I'll share important department updates, celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding cadet-athletes, and offer perspective on the ever-evolving landscape of college athletics.
Our work continues to be guided by the four pillars of the Fruits of Victory strategic plan: Competitive Success, Delivering an Extraordinary Division I Experience, Public Engagement and Revenue Generation, and Sustainability.
I recently returned from the Patriot League Athletic Directors meetings, where there was significant discussion surrounding recent NCAA legislation, rule changes, and the future of the collegiate athletics model. As the landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace, our focus remains steadfast: providing the very best experience possible for our cadet-athletes while positioning Army West Point Athletics for long-term success. There is certainly much more to come on that front.
Back home at West Point, our spring sports are charging toward championship season while graduation quickly approaches for the Class of 2026. The energy across the Academy is palpable. This is one of the most exciting times of the year – a period defined by competition, achievement, reflection, and celebration - both on and off the fields of friendly strife!
ACADEMIC PROGRESS REPORT SUCCESS
The NCAA released its four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) on Tuesday and seven Army athletic programs earned perfect scores of 1000 on the four-year report: gymnastics, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, softball, women's tennis, and rifle. A total of 16 teams earned perfect scores for the 2024-25 academic year. This achievement reflects the hard work of our cadet-athletes for success both on and off the field. Congratulations to all of our teams who earned recognition!
WOMEN'S LACROSSE EARNS FIRST EVER TEWAARATON TOP-FIVE FINALIST
Women's lacrosse senior Brigid Duffy made history on Tuesday when she was named a top five finalist for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Duffy is the first ever finalist for the Army women's lacrosse program and the fifth ever finalist across both the Army men's and women's lacrosse programs to achieve this honor.
