Two Men’s Soccer Players Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Kelly Cooper and Gunnar Guest both earn Patriot League Weekly Honors after their performances during last week's match against Air Force the Patriot League announced on Monday afternoon.
Senior defender Kelly Cooper was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman defender Gunnar Guest was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Senior captain Kelly Cooper played a full 90 minutes on Thursday's game against Air Force. Cooper and the Army defense limited Air Force's attacking to just one goal, 13 shots, and four shots on goal. With Army trailing 1-0 after a 52nd minute Air Force goal, Cooper and the defense shut down the Falcons and left the door open for Army's response in the 59th minute which served as the equalizer in the game.
Guest, a freshman from Ann Arbor, Michigan takes home the Rookie of the Week honor after he played a crucial role in Army's 1-1 draw against Air Force on Thursday, Aug. 20. Guest scored his first collegiate goal as well as Army's first goal of the 2026 season on Thursday night which served as the Black Knight's only goal of the game. This goal came just minutes after Air Force took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Guest played a full 90 minutes and recorded two points, a 1.000 shot percentage and a 1.000 shot-on-goal percentage.

Army is back in action tonight, August 24 as they take on the #12 Akron Zips at FirstEnergy Stadium in Akron, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
