Swim & Dive Takes Home Four Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army Swimming and Diving's Johnny Crush, Angie McKane, Jason Sugihara, and Hannah Wooten each take home Patriot League weekly awards after their performances at the Thursday Night Showdown meet on Sept. 24 at home.
Johnny Crush earns Men's Swimmer of the Week, Angie McKane earns Women's Swimmer of the Week, Jason Sugihara earns Men's Rookie of the Week and Hannah Wooten earns Women's Rookie of the Week.
At the Thursday Night Showdown, Crush earned first-place finishes in all five events he entered. The junior swept all three rounds of the 50-yard backstroke, posting a meet-fastest mark of 21.13 alongside subsequent winning times of 23.00 and 21.25. He continued his individual event dominance in the 150-yard backstroke, placing first with a time of 1:15.45. Crush completed his perfect night by helping Army secure first place in the 5x100-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 3:44.29. With the help of Crush's performance, the Army Men's team went on to beat Marist 1,080-705.
McKane delivered a standout performance vs. Marist and UConn, earning seven first-place finishes, including six individual victories, across eight events. McKane swept the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly, winning each event three times. She recorded her fastest 50-yard butterfly time of the meet in her final race, finishing with a time of 23.85, while her final 50-yard backstroke victory came in 25.73. McKane also led off Army's winning 5x100-yard medley relay, which finished in 4:48.31, and helped the Black Knights place second in the 6x100-yard freestyle relay with a time of 5:15.75. Her performance helped Army secure first place in the women's team standings with 1,003 points, ahead of UConn (779) and Marist (545).
Sugihara went undefeated across the four events he appeared in in his collegiate debut on Thursday. Sugihara swept his individual schedule, placing first in the 150-yard freestyle with a time of 1:12.38 before winning the 200-yard reverse IM in 1:56.37. The rookie also contributed to two relay victories, closing out the 400-yard medley relay team's win in 3:24.55 and the 5x100-yard freestyle relay team's top finish in 3:44.29. In total, Sugihara generated 40 individual points for the Black Knights.
Wooten also made her collegiate debut at the Thursday Night Showdown capturing two individual event victories. Wooten swept her schedule, winning the 150-yard butterfly with a time of 1:28.00 before securing a first-place finish in the 200-yard reverse IM in 2:08.29. She was the only Black Knight rookie on the women's side to claim multiple individual titles, racking up 40 individual points for Army.
