Chris Koch joined the men's soccer staff at Army West Point in February 2024 as assistant coach, and heads into his third season on Brian Plotkin’s staff in 2026.
Last season, Army went 7-6-5 and returned to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since the 2022 as the No. 3 seed. The 2025 campaign saw Army record a dominant 4-0 win in the Army-Navy Cup in front of over 11,000 fans in Philadelphia. The four-goal margin of victory marked the largest in the 14 years of the Army-Navy Cup. Army also defeated Big Ten foe Penn State in a thrilling 2-1 home contest.
The Black Knights had four members named All-Patriot League. Jubril Bamgabala and Kelly Cooper were named First Team All-Patriot League, while Jack Meyer and Jack De Simone were named Third Team. This was the most players Army has had on the All-Conference Team since the 2022 season, when six Black Knights earned the honors.
Army knocked off both Air Force and Navy in 2024 by 2-1 scorelines. Army defeated both Air Force and Navy in the same season for just the fifth time in program history, and the first time since 2016. Army is now 11-6-5 in its last 22 fixtures vs. academy rivals and has gone unbeaten against academies for the second season in a row.
Koch arrived at West Point following a four-season stint as Associate Head Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology. During his tenure, Stevens saw great success featuring an overall record of 53-14-16 which included three NCAA Tournament Appearances and a Final Four appearance in 2022.
Prior to Stevens, Koch had a three-year stint on the sidelines for his alma mater, Washington (Md.) College, after the completion of his career on the pitch for the Shoremen. In his first year on Castle Point, Koch helped Stevens secure the MAC Freedom Regular Season Title.
In Koch's time with the Washington College, WC totaled 22 victories, including 10 victories in the 2016 season when the Shoremen advanced to the Centennial Conference semifinals. During his tenure, seven players received All-Centennial Conference recoginiton.
As a player, Koch was a four-year defenseman at Washington College for head coach Roy Dunshee, serving as captain in his senior season. During his senior campaign in 2015, the Shoremen posted the program's best record since the 2003 season while holding opponents to 1.24 goals per match.
A native of Hadley, Massachusetts, Koch graduated from Washington College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in history.
