- Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Brett Axelrod enters his first season on the Army West Point women’s soccer staff in 2026, bringing more than fourteen years of collegiate coaching experience and a strong background in goalkeeper development, recruiting, and program leadership across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III.
Axelrod comes to West Point following a successful tenure as the head women’s soccer coach at Dominican University New York, where he guided the Chargers to the 2024 CACC Semifinals and the 2023 CACC Quarterfinals. Under his leadership, Dominican produced multiple All-CACC honorees, two CACC All-Tournament selections, and more than one hundred academic award recipients. The program earned twelve CSC Academic All-District selections, twenty-two CACC All-Academic honorees, and consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards.
Before Dominican, Axelrod served as an assistant coach at Saint Peter’s University, Fordham University, LIU-Brooklyn, and Whitman College. His time at Fordham included a 2017 NCAA Quarterfinal appearance and the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship, while LIU captured the 2015 NEC Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth during his tenure.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Axelrod is active in the club soccer landscape. He coaches with World Class FC, where he has led girls’ ECRL teams to regional success, including a New England ECRL League Cup Championship and an ECRL East Regionals appearance. He also works with Modern Goalkeeper Training Systems, training youth athletes ages eight through eighteen in technical, tactical, and college-recruiting development.
A standout goalkeeper at Whitman College, Axelrod was a four-year starter and earned Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, served as a team captain, and received the Borleske Award as the institution’s top male student-athlete. He ranked among the top five nationally in goals-against average and save percentage during his senior season.
Axelrod holds a U.S. Soccer B License, and United Soccer Coaches diplomas in Goalkeeping Level III, Formations and Systems of Play, and Sports Psychology. He is certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. He earned his master’s degree in human resource management from Stony Brook University and his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Whitman College.
