Tom Theodorakis was named the 31st Director of Athletics at Army West Point in February 2025, ushering in a new era of innovation, competitive excellence, and transformational growth for Black Knights Athletics.
During his tenure leading the department, Army West Point achieved two historic milestones. On April 12, 2025, Army secured the Star Series Presented by USAA, defeating rival Navy in the all-sport competition for the first time since the 2013–14 season. Just weeks later, the Black Knights captured the 2025 Patriot League Presidents’ Cup, recognizing Army as the top overall athletic program in the conference based on combined regular-season and championship performance across all sports.
Under Theodorakis’ leadership, Army West Point secured a landmark apparel partnership with Nike, maintaining one of the most competitive agreements in collegiate athletics. He also spearheaded an extension with Learfield, expanding opportunities to drive revenue generation, sponsorship development, and fan engagement initiatives. Additionally, Army West Point launched a comprehensive partnership with Levy to elevate concessions and premium hospitality across all athletic venues. The collaboration debuted during the 2025 football season and included the introduction of alcoholic beverage sales at Michie Stadium, enhancing the fan experience as part of the transformational Michie Stadium Preservation Project.
Prior to becoming Director of Athletics, Theodorakis served as Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations and Chief Revenue Officer, where he led all external-facing units for Army Athletics and played a central role in strategic growth initiatives. His portfolio included development, strategic communications, digital and social strategy, creative and video services, broadcasting, licensing and branding, and business development and revenue generation across marketing, fan engagement, ticketing, ticket sales, and corporate partnerships. His work also supported the Academy’s $600 million comprehensive fundraising campaign.
A driving force behind the Michie Stadium Preservation Project, Theodorakis has helped lead the most aspirational project in the history of Army West Point Athletics, a comprehensive transformation of the stadium’s east stands - ensuring that one of college football’s most iconic venues continues to deliver one of the most inspiring game day atmospheres in the country.
He joined Army West Point in July 2022 as Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations, working closely with then Director of Athletics Mike Buddie as a member of the department’s senior leadership team. During his tenure he also served as sport administrator for the men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse programs and remains a member of the Army–Navy Steering Committee, which organizes and executes one of the most historic rivalries in American sports.
Before arriving at West Point, Theodorakis served as Senior Associate Director of Development at Harvard University, where he partnered with institutional leadership to develop comprehensive revenue-generation strategies across development, marketing, branding, licensing, broadcasting, corporate sponsorships, and ticketing. Previously, he spent six years at the University of Arizona as Associate Athletics Director for Development, leading a team that generated more than $67 million in capital campaign support. While in Tucson, he held several leadership roles on the department’s senior staff, served as a sport administrator, and contributed to strategic initiatives including health and wellness programming and the department’s COVID-19 response.
Earlier in his career, Theodorakis served as Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs at UCLA, where he oversaw the daily operations of the development office and played a key role in fundraising efforts that led to the construction of the Wasserman Football Center and the Mo Ostin Basketball Center.
He also spent five years at Arizona as Assistant Athletics Director for Development, contributing to major capital projects including the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility and the McKale Center Renovation Project, while representing the Pac-12 Conference with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Earlier, he worked in the marketing and development office at the United States Air Force Academy and served as a volunteer coach with the men’s lacrosse program.
A former national champion student-athlete, Theodorakis earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Syracuse University, where he was a four-year letterwinner and member of the 2004 NCAA National Championship men’s lacrosse team. He holds a master’s degree in sport administration from the University of Northern Colorado. He will be inducted into the 2026 Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing his achievements as a state champion, Empire State Games gold medalist, and honorable mention All-American during his high school career.
Theodorakis is also a graduate of the Sports Management Institute (SMI) Executive Program and completed executive education coursework at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education Leadership at the University of Arizona, where his research focuses on student-veterans in higher education, and he was the recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Fellowship Award.
Theodorakis and his wife, Robyn, a former collegiate swimmer at Arizona State University, have a daughter, Olivia.
