Men’s Tennis Alive in Consolation After Day Two

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team battled through a long, hard second day at the Farnsworth Invitational, hosted by Princeton, on Saturday.
Juniors Sam Lampman and Grant Riechmann will play into the third and final day of the tournament in singles while senior Harrison McCormick and freshman David Mitchell are still in the hunt for doubles.
Lampman dropped his first match today 4-6, 3-6 to St. John's before topping Temple 6-4, 6-1 in the consolation bracket. Riechmann fell in three sets to Wisconsin 6-4, 3-6, 9-11, but went on to earn a comeback win over Lehigh, 4-6, 6-1, 11-9.McCormick and Mitchell defeated NJIT 8-3 in their doubles match.
"We had some great matches today," said head coach Jim Poling. "We played really hard and lost some close ones, but we learned a lot today. That's what the fall is all about; learning and getting better. I am very proud of our guys."
The Black Knights will close out the Farnsworth Invitational on Sun., Oct. 11.
