Black Knights Fall in Star Meet Versus Navy

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's swimming and diving team fell to Navy in the Star Match, 194-106, on Saturday afternoon at Crandall Pool. The Black Knights set several academy, pool and plebe records during the meet.

"I want to credit Navy with a very strong performance. They swam really well today," stated head coach Mickey Wender. "I'm very proud of our team for their effort today. We came up a little bit short but we made progress and competed hard against our rival."
MEET HIGHLIGHTS/NOTES
Sabrina Mortell and Meaghan McGovern will compete in the TCNJ Invitational tomorrow, and then the Black Knights will be off until Jan. 6, when they host Lehigh in a dual-meet at Crandall Pool.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS/NOTES
- Kelly Hamilton touched the wall in 54.10 seconds to claim first in the 100 backstroke, setting a pool and academy record.
- Kara Wineinger set an academy record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.94.
- The 200-medley relay team of Cecelia Croman, Wineinger, Hamilton and Jenna Forrester set an academy record with a time of 1:41.54, good for a second-place finish.
- Josephine Marsh won the 200 backstroke and set an academy, pool and plebe record with clocking in at 1:58.52.
- In the 200 individual medley, Sidney Evans swam to an academy record by clocking in at 2:03.76.
- In the 1-meter diving, Serica Hallstead took the top spot with a score of 256.42 Hallstead also won the 3-meter dive with a final mark of 264.37.
- Kathryn Seyer helped Army finished 1-2 in the 3-meter dive with a score of 256.79.
- Sabrina Mortell took second in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 4:53.30, which was just over a second behind the Mids top finisher.
