Women’s Tennis Hosts Trio, Starts Patriot League Play

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team returns to the court following an over two-week hiatus from game action. The Black Knights host LIU Brooklyn in a non-conference tilt before welcoming Holy Cross for their first Patriot League match of the season. Both of those matches are on Thursday, March 24, beginning at 3 p.m. before playing Lafayette on Friday, March 25, at 4 p.m.
Army has won six straight contests and is 13-3 this spring. The Blackbirds are 0-8, Crusaders enter with a mark of 0-2 with both matches coming in conference, and the Leopards are 1-5 this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Black Knights played it was a historic meet as they cruised by Siena 4-0 and Rhode Island 7-0. Senior Carolyn Pitman won her 100th career doubles match against Rhode Island, becoming just the second player in Academy history to do so. Her career doubles record is currently 100-28 and 68-11 in the spring. Marissa Limsiaco is the only other player in school history to reach the century mark. Her school-record is 114 career doubles win.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
The Crusaders opened their spring with losses to Boston University (7-0) and Colgate (6-1) this month. Freshman Allison Reiling was the only player for Holy Cross to earn a victory with it coming by default in the number two singles match against Colgate.
SCOUTING LIU BROOKLYN
The Blackbirds, who hail from the Northeast Conference, are playing in their first match in the United States since February 21, as their last three matches occurred in Puerto Rico. LIU Brooklyn was the NEC's regular season conference champion last season.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
Lafayette has not played in over two weeks due to postponements of matches. The Leopards lone win of the season came over a month and a half ago on February 13 against Saint Peter's.
SERIES HISTORY
The Black Knights own a winning record against all three opponents all-time. Army is 10-2 versus LIU Brooklyn, 21-2 opposite Holy Cross, and holds a 19-10 advantage over Lafayette.
NEXT UP: Saturday, April 2 at Navy – 11 a.m. (Star Match)
The Army-Navy rivalry continues with the Star Match occuring on April 2. Women's tennis is relatively new to the rivalry as this will be just the eighth meeting between the two. The Black Knights are 6-1 against the Midshipmen. For the 2015-16 Star Series presented by USAA, Navy holds a 9-7-1 advantage.
