Women’s Lacrosse Closes Season This Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse team returns to action for the final time during its inaugural varsity season on Saturday, when the Black Knights face Loyola in Baltimore, Md., at 1 p.m.

Army was last on the field on April 23 when it fell to a 14-3 defeat at Boston University. The Terriers held an 8-1 lead at halftime, with freshman Izzy McMahon providing Army's only goal of the period. McMahon went on to score another goal in the second half and junior Erin Jollota also found the back of the net for the Black Knights.
ARMY WEST POINT (5-11, 0-8 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• McMahon is Army's fifth-leading scorer, with 12 goals in seven games since joining the squad in late March. She paces the team with just over 1.7 goals per contest.
• Freshman Amelia Gabrovic finished with a season-high three caused turnovers to lead the Black Knights in the category versus Boston University.
• Freshman Kayla Rowley has posted at least 10 saves in three games this season and ranks second in the Patriot League with 2.63 ground balls per outing.
• Sophomore Amy Johnston continues to lead the Black Knights with 23 goals on the season, while classmate Rachel Hornick is one behind Johnston's total, with 22 markers.
LOYOLA (11-5, 8-0 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Loyola, which is receiving votes in the latest Inside Lacrosse poll, has won each of the last two Patriot League Tournament championships and has never lost a league game since joining the conference prior to 2014.
• Senior Maddy Blakeman leads the Greyhounds with 48 points (31 goals, 17 assists) this season, while freshman Hannah Powers is close behind with 47 points (29 goals, 18 assists).
• Senior Maddy Lesher, who paces the Patriot League with 3.47 ground balls per game and 3.00 caused turnovers per game, was selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in late February.
• Senior Molly Wolf is one of the top goalies in the league, with a conference-best .522 save percentage. Wolf also ranks second in the Patriot League with an 8.30 goals against average.
