WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Led by captain Leo Genders who championed two events, the Army West Point gymnastics team was edged by William & Mary Saturday afternoon by a score of 401.600-393.550 to close-out the regular season.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- Genders led the Black Knights with two first-place finishes. He championed the vault with an impressive 14.350 to tie his second-best score of the 2017 season.
- He was also first on the high bar, in which he ranks 19th in the nation, turning out a score of 13.900.
- Nathan Goff and Seth Cannon finished second and third in the all-around, respectively.
- As a team, the Black Knights posted its highest score of the season on floor exercise with marks of 67.150.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goff led the Cadets on floor with a third-place performance of 13.900. Erik Del Cid and Genders were helpful to Army's success as they both posted marks of 13.600 to tie for fifth.
- Brandon Shively was Army's top finisher on the pommel after a 12.900 routine to rank him fifth overall. Cannon chased him with a ninth-place score of 12.650.
- Elliott Herman had a standout performance on the rings to place second with a season-high 13.850. Goff was fourth with a mark of 13.700 and Darrel yamamura finished tied for seventh at 13.200.
- Apart from Genders' 14.350on vault, Ryan Wilson scored an even 14.000 for seventh. It is the sixth time this season he has scored a 14.000 or more.
- Grant Cullen was the Black Knights' best scorer on the parallel bars (13.200) to rank fourth, while Elijah-Ty Phelps tied for ninth (12.800) and Herman was 10th (12.650).
- The high bar saw three gymnasts score over a 13.000 with Genders leading the field with a 13.900. Goff was close behind in second (13.200) and Alejandro Tombrink (13.050) was tied for fifth.
UP NEXT
- Today's meet concluded the regular season for Army. The Black Knights will next compete at the ECAC Championships April 8, in Chicago, Ill. The individual qualifiers will then perform in front of a home crowd for the NCAA Championships hosted by West Point April 21-22.
