Army Welcomes Bucknell for Final Home Series

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will host its final Patriot League series of the regular season when Bucknell comes to the Hudson Valley for a three-game set this weekend.
Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game are both slated to begin at noon.

On Sunday, the Black Knights will honor seniors Alee Rashenskas, Tyler McKinney, Michaela Hoover, Caroline Smith and Kristen West, along with sophomore transfer Kennedy Harrison, who will each be playing their final games for the Black and Gold. Harrison played her first two years at Texas Tech and Marion Military Institute before joining the Cadets for her final two seasons of eligibility.

ARMY (28-16, 7-5 Patriot League)
• Army enters the weekend with a 54-35 advantage in the all-time series.
• Last season, the Black Knights took two-of-three games from the Bison in Lewisburg, Pa., in addition to knocking Bucknell out of the Patriot League tournament with a 3-2 victory in the consolation semifinals.
• Army recently bounced back from its season-long five-game losing streak in the nightcap Thursday with a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac behind the arm of Renee Poirier.
• Poirier earned her 11th win of the season by scattering eight hits across seven innings without issuing a walk in the fifth shutout of her young career.
• She combined with Smith to produce the first set of consecutive games this season that the Black Knights have not given up any free passes.
• Offensively, Ashley Yoo paces the team with an average of .372 on 42 hits in 113 at-bats.

BUCKNELL (23-12, 6-3 Patriot League)
• Bucknell dropped a pair of one-run decisions to Penn State, 2-1 and 6-5 (8 innings), its last time out on Wednesday.
• The Bison are one of the top offensive teams in the league as they have the best average (.293), runs per game (4.71), hits per game (8.11), triples (9) and on-base percentage (.364).
• Individually, Lauren Hadley, Meghan Kovac and Anna Gimmestad have been the driving force of that offensive production.
• Hadley (.381 avg.) and Gimmestad (.361 avg.) lead the Patriot League with 43 hits apiece, while Kovac (.378 avg.) follows closely with 42.
• Kovac has provided the power in the middle of the Bison lineup, driving in a league-best 34 runs and smashing five homers.
• Freshman standout Raeanne Geffert is tied with Poirier for the second lowest earned run average in the league at 2.02, while leading the way in innings pitched (135.0), strikeouts (103) and opponent's batting average (.217).
• She is also tied for the most wins in the Patriot League with 14.
