Strong First Half Powers Army Past Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Army West Point sprint football team handed the reigning CSFL champion Penn Quakers their first loss of the season with a 24-14 victory Saturday night at Franklin Field.
The Black Knights improved to 3-0, while the Quakers dropped to 2-1 on the year.

- Army improved to 55-7 in the all-time series with Penn.
- The Black Knights avenged their loss to the Quakers last season.
- Army outgained Penn in the first half, 207-74.
- Junior quarterback Keegan West went 12-for-19 with 155 yards passing and two touchdowns in the first half.
- He finished 17-for-27 with 198 yards and the two scores.
- Ty Galyean and Clayton Carter each recorded a team-high five receptions with 79 and 78 yards, respectively.
- Curtis Jerzerick and Connor Long posted a team-high seven tackles.
- The Black Knights posted seven tackles for loss on the night, led by Jerzerick and Zach Lechthaler.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ty Galyean opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 40-yard reception from Keegan West at the 9:43 mark to give Army a 7-0 lead.
- Peter Davis pushed Army's advantage to double-digits with a 21-yard field goal with 7:58 remaining in the first half.
- West hit another deep ball for a touchdown on a 54-yarder to Clayton Carter with 2:41 left in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 17-points.
- The Black Knights' special teams came through in the third quarter when a blocked punt deep in Penn territory and recoved by Dillon Bliss in the end zone to give Army a 24-0 edge.
- Penn answered late in the fourth quarter with touchdowns at 3:06 and 2:02.
