WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point wrestling team begins its postseason run at the 114th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships, hosted by Hofstra, on Friday and Saturday.

ARMY (3-6, 2-3 EIWA)
• Last time out, the Black Knights erased a nine-point deficit to shock service-academy rival Navy, 18-15, in Annapolis, Md., to claim the star.
• The win boosted head coach Kevin Ward's record against the Mids to 3-1, tying him with Army Hall of Famer LeRoy Alitz for the most in program history.
• It was also the team's first win at Navy since 1961 and first time claiming back-to-back victories over their rival since taking three straight from 1960-62.
• Rookie Lane Peters and yearling Lucas Weiland both lead the team with an 18-13 record.
• All 10 Army wrestlers have double-digit wins on the season heading into the conference tournament with nine owning at least 15.
ARMY AT THE EIWA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Thirty-one Cadets have been crowned as an EIWA Champion, with the latest being Matt Kyler at 149 pounds in the 2010 tournament.
• Five Cadets will make their debut at the EIWA Championships: Lane Peters (133 lbs.), Will Lucie (149 lbs.), Lucas Weiland (157 lbs.), Noah Stewart (184 lbs.) and Bobby Heald (285 lbs.).
• Army has four current grapplers who have placed at the tournament: Andrew Mendel (3rd at 165 lbs. – 2017; 5th at 165 lbs. – 2016), Trey Chalifoux (5th at 125 lbs. – 2017), Rocco Caywood (6th at 197 lbs. – 2017) and Ben Harvey (7th at 174 lbs. – 2017).
• The Black Knights are pursuing their second team crown in program history, with the first coming in 1987. The '87 squad placed all 10 wrestlers with Todd Messitt, who acts as Army's current head officer representative, earning the 126-pound title.
• In 2017, Army sent seven wrestlers to podium finishes, the most since 2006.

• Fifteen of the 16 teams at the tournament have at least one wrestler ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Panel with seven teams having at least four.
• The deepest weight classes are 184 and 165 pounds, which have nine and eight ranked wrestlers competing for seven automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, respectively.
