- Both offenses struggled to capitalize on their shots as the two sides went over 10 minutes with a score. However, with 9:26 on the clock, Villanova got back-to-back goals to extend its lead to three, 5-2.
- The Black Knights put in two goals of their own off shots by Cortes and Raymond, but Villanova scored with 5:37 left in the half to take a 6-4 advantage into the break. It marked just the second time this season, that Army trailed at the midway point.
- Villanova made it tough for Army to mount a comeback as the Wildcats outscored the Cadets, 8-1, over the first 14:04 of the second stanza. Despite several tries to chip into the deficit, the Black Knights were unable to overcome the deficit and ultimately fell, 16-8.
