Army Holds off Bucknell in Extra Innings

LEWISBURG, Pa. ---- Army West Point Softball (12-23, 3-1) held off Bucknell (5-29, 1-8) in extra innings coming up with the 5-4 win to secure the series sweep over the Bison, on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
The teams were quiet for the first three innings. Jolie Duong was in the circle for Army and kept Bucknell off the board for four innings tossing four strikeouts in that time.
Army got on the board first in the top of the fourth scoring four runs off three hits and two errors. Gilmore scored the first run for Army, crossing home plate due to a fielding error by Bucknell. Lauren Little stayed alert and sprinted home when Bucknell threw a wild pitch making the score 2-0 in Army's favor. Two passed balls plated two more runs for Army making the final score of the half-inning 4-0.
Bucknell battled back in the bottom of the fifth scoring three runs off two hits.
Parker Llantero was in the circle for Army the fifth and sixth inning. She worked herself out of a jam, securing the grounded out and sending Army back to the dugout. Emily Iannotti (5-2) took over in the circle in the bottom of the seventh and immediately secured the first out. Fielding errors got the best of Army, allowing the Bison to tie the game up at 4-4.
In the top of the eighth inning, Lauren little hit a leadoff single through the left side. She was quickly moved to third by LaRusso's double. With the winning run 60-feet from the plate, Ellie Caldwell put the ball in play allowing for enough time for Little to cross home plate. Army held Bucknell off in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 5-4 win over the Bison.
