Gymnastics Claims Fourth-Place Finish at ECAC Championships; Lands Four on All-ECAC First Team

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Army West Point Gymnastics took home fourth-place with a team score of 377.65 at the ECAC Championships hosted at Navy's Halsey Field House Facility on Saturday afternoon.
Army saw four named to the All-ECAC First Team following the meet, including Gabe Almeida, Patrick Armstrong, Joseph Buselmeier and Johnathan Pinc.
Maddox Pabellon was named ECAC Rookie of the Year and Specialist of the Year following the meet, while Caleb Churchill earned ECAC Most Imrpoved Gymnast honors for the season.
Armstrong was runner-up on still rings leading the Cadets to a first-place team finish for Army, headlining the Black Knights' performance at the ECAC Championships.
Armstrong's 13.55 on the rings was just shy of his career mark of 13.6 in placing second in that event behind William & Mary's Christian Marsh, who claimed the individual title with his score of 13.7. Joseph Buselmeier turned in a 13.3 to place fifth as Army claimed the team title with a 64.70 composite, their second highest score of the season. Buselmeier earned All-ECAC honors on still rings, parallel bars and the all-around.
Gabe Almeida and Johnathan Pinc finished among the leaders placing third on pommel horse (13.25) and vault (14.25), respectively. Pinc's number was his second highest score of the season as both landed on the All-ECAC team.
Posting Army's highest scores in the other team events was Almeida on floor exercise (13.1), Buselmeier (parallel bars, 13.45) with Zachary Perez on high bar (12.55).
Top-seeded Navy captured four of the six team events walking off with the championship trophy after besting the field with a score of 395.65.
Springfield College (386.85) edged William & Mary (384.25) for runner-up honors followed by Army (377.65), Greenville (377.25) and Simpson College (346.85).
