LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Army visited Bucknell, losing the series 1-3.
In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, Bucknell took an early lead with an RBI double in the third inning.
Army responded in the fifth with Ellie Caldwell's triple, narrowing the gap to one. Despite a strong pitching performance from Army's Amanda Eaglin, the offense couldn't capitalize, resulting in a 2-1 defeat.
Despite the loss, Parker Llantero went three-for-three at the plate.
In the second game, Army's Olivia Farris pitched four scoreless innings, supported by Ashton White's RBI single in the fourth.
In the fifth, Sam Bocis hit her first career home run, followed by Llantero's RBI single, giving Army a 3-0 lead.
Bucknell scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth, tying the game. In the seventh, Bucknell secured a walk-off RBI double for a 4-3 victory after a weather delay.
In Sunday's game, Army surged ahead in the early innings with Ashton White's triple, scoring Parker Llantero for a 1-0 lead.
Mia Bonsignore's single in the second extended Army's lead to 2-0.
Pitcher Amanda Eaglin kept Bucknell scoreless for four innings, allowing only one hit.
Bucknell tied the game in the fifth with two RBIs.
Both teams' pitchers held strong, leading to extra innings.
In the eighth, Sam Bocis's RBI put Army ahead, with Lauren Levendoski securing the win with three strikeouts.
Ashton White shone, going three-for-three with an RBI.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Army and Holy Cross have a longstanding history and conference rivalry. Army currently leads the series 78-39.
The last time the two teams met was last season when the Black Knights hosted Holy Cross. Army handled the Crusaders handedly in all three games of the series (8-3, 9-6, 8-0).
TEAM AND PLAYER NOTES
Ashton White was given Patriot League honorable mention due to her performance in the Bucknell series. The sophomore batted .625 (5-for-8) with two RBIs, and in the Black Knights' 3-2 extra-innings win over the Bison, White was 3-for-4 with a walk.
In the current Patriot League standings, Army occupies the 5th position.
Kayla Edwards demonstrates prowess in total hits, sharing the fourth position in the conference and leading the team with 35 hits this season. Additionally, she ranks eighth in the league and leads the team with a .357 batting average.
Ashton White follows closely behind Edwards. The sophomore has amassed 29 total hits this season with a .337 batting average. Notably, she leads the team in RBI with 16.
Transitioning to the pitching department, Amanda Eaglin spearheads Army's efforts with a 3.95 ERA. Meanwhile, Breanna Izzo and Olivia Farris lead in total strikeouts, tallying 28 thus far.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Holy Cross currently sits in sixth place in the Patriot League standings, just behind Army. The Crusaders started their Patriot League season by taking on Lehigh the weekend prior. They were defeated in all three contests (1-5, 1-4, 0-4).
Outfielder Ali Sniegocki leads Holy Cross from the hitting front. The sophomore currently holds a .312 batting average with a team-high 13 RBI and three home runs.
Bucknell's pitching rotation features four different pitchers, with three of them making 13 or more appearances. Megan Yurchick stands out as the primary starter, boasting the team's lowest ERA of 3.85 with four wins.
