Women's Soccer Rolls to 4-1 Win Over American

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team (7-2-0, 1-0-0 PL) rolled past American in a dominant 4-1 victory to open Patriot League play Friday night at Malek Stadium.
American (4-2-1) came into the game allowing just four goals through six games this season, then the Black Knights doubled that total in one night.
This is the second straight game Army has scored four goals (4-3, W at Air Force). It is the first time the Black Knights have scored four goals or more in consecutive games since Sep. 12-14, 2003 (4-0 vs. UAlbany, 4-0 vs. Siena). The 7-2-0 start is the best since 2010 when the team also started 7-2-0.
The game got started quick when Bella Conti scored her third goal of her freshman season in the 7th minute off an assist from Bella Cooke. The Black Knights outshot the Eagles 8-5 in the first 45 minutes to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
The second goal of the night came in the 52nd minute when Sabrina Rogers found Kaelan Bradley about five yards out from the net and she slotted the ball home along the far left post to make it a 2-0 lead.
19 minutes later in the 71st minute, Bradley netted her second of the night with a screamer that deflected off the left post into the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game.
In the 76th minute, the Eagles got on the board with a penalty kick but just eight minutes later, Grace Edvalds scored her first career goal to stretch the Black Knight lead back to three.
The Black Knights finished the game with five shots on frame, four of which went in, compared to five shots and one goal for American.
Prior to the Air Force game the last time Army scored four or more goals in a game was Sep. 8, 2022 against Wagner (W, 5-0). Now they've done it in back to back games. The last time doing so in a league game was Sep. 22, 2021 against Holy Cross (W, 5-1).
Army now turns its attention to a matchup with Holy Cross at Malek Stadium on Wednesday at 6pm.
