ARMY STORYLINES:
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY: Curry returns to Army for his third season after serving as a key role in for the Black Knights for the past two seasons. The junior played in all 33 of Army's games, starting in all but one matchup. He finished last season averaging 12.5 points a game, the third highest on the team, plus led the team in assists and three-point percentage. The former Patriot League All-Rookie Team (2023-24) member will see an even higher workload in the 2025-26 year, poised to be Army's starting point guard and the Black Knights' biggest offensive threat.
JORNADO WARNING : Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season, starring as the Black Knights' sixth man. Everson played in 32 games last season, having a breakout 22-point performance in Army's College Basketball Invitational win over Elon. A stretch forward who finished last season shooting 30.3 percent from the three-point line, do not be surprised if the senior not only sees elevated minutes, but also becomes a key member in Army's starting five.
THE WALLET: A role player off Army's bench last season, Kevin McCarthy served as an offensive spark plug for the Black Knights last season. The sophomore guard served as a three-point shooting threat last season, quickly scoring points off the bench in his limited minutes. He had a career-high 14 points in 16 minutes of play against Colgate on Jan. 29, and finished last season averaging 37 percent from the three-point line. With Army's young lineup, it would not be surprising for the sophomore to have a more prominent role in the offense in 2025-26.
FOR THE YOUNG GUNS: The Black Knights' roster will look different this season after graduating an eight person senior class. Now on the 18-man roster, there are five upperclassmen and 13 underclassmen, with nine sophomores and four freshman. The new freshman joining Army includes Jackson Furman, Dillon Watt, Dylan Benner and Jahaan Green. Before joining the Academy, Furman, Benner and Green each played a year at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).
HELD IN HIGH REGARD: Team captain, Jackson Mayo, was named the United States Military Academy's Deputy Brigade Commander, the second-highest ranked position in the Corps of Cadets, over the summer. Last season, Mayo played in 10 games last season.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST SEASON: Army finished the season 17-16 overall and 10-8 in conference play, tied for the best finish in League play in program history. The Black Knights were the only team in the Patriot League this season to earn a win over a Group of Five school this season. They earned a 78-75 win over the UTSA Roadrunners (American) on December 29 to close out non-league play. Two Black Knights finished with Patriot League All-League Honors. Jalen Rucker was named to the Patriot League All-League First Team, and Josh Scovens was named to the Patriot League All-League Second Team.\
BREAKING THE DROUGHT: In a 21-point comeback, the Black Knights were able to earn the program's first win in postseason play last season, earning a 83-78 win over Elon University. The win was the first time since former Army head coach Bob Knight took his squad to the 1970 National Invitational Tournament (NIT), with the team earning three wins that tournament to earn a third place finish.
