Woodring Earns the Nod for Atlantic Hockey America Forward of the Week
December 02, 2025 | Hockey
BOSTON, Mass. – Army West Point hockey junior forward Barron Woodring earned this week's Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Forward of the Week title after a pair of strong performances for the Black Knights.
"Barron was excellent for us this week and especially against UMass," said Head Coach Zach McKelvie. "Our team has been struggling and as the captian, he stepped up and led the way both in the locker room and with his performance on the ice."
Woodring led the Black Knights in points this weekend with three from a goal and two assists to move into the top spot for total points on the team this season with 12 points.
He first led the team with 12 faceoffs won against Bentley in addition to putting up a shot on goal and logging a blocked shot against the Falcons.
Woodring then helped Army earn a 5-4 win over No. 18 UMass with a tied-for-game-high three points from a goal and two assists.
Woodring first assisted on Ben Ivey and Vincent Salice's goals to tie the game and then push Army into its first lead of the night before scoring a goal himself to put Army back in the lead after a tying goal from UMass.
The junior forward scored his fourth goal of the season unassisted and shorthanded for the Black Knights to put Army up 4-3 late in the second period.
Woodring's performances in the faceoff circle puts him at a total of 187 faceoff wins this season – good first in the AHA and fifth in the nation in total faceoff wins.
Army returns to action on Friday, Dec. 5 on the road at Sacred Heart in a matchup beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
