Men's Basketball Closes Nonconference Slate with Home Matchup Against Binghamton

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (5-7) plays its final game in its nonconference slate of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, Dec. 23, hosting the Binghamton University Bearcats (3-8).
Army currently holds a 9-6 advantage in the series history between the two teams, but the Bearcats have bested the Black Knights in the past three games. Binghamton most recently earned a 78-68 win over the Black Knights last season inside Christl Arena on Dec. 22, 2024.
The Black Knights hope to snap their losing streak against the Bearcats on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 12 p.m. ET, with the game also streaming live on ESPN+.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME – Army earned its second straight win, its fourth win in five games on Friday, knocking off the UMBC Retrievers (6-5), 63-60. The game marked the second meeting of these two programs, with Army's record against the Retrievers now standing at 2-0. In a game hallmarked by gritty defense, the Black Knights finished the game with three players scoring in double digits. Jaxson Bell finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds, his first career double-double. Jacen Holloway matched Bell with 12 and Jorn Everson added 11 points.
FINDING THEIR STRIDE – The Black Knights have won four of their last five games after starting the season 1-6. The four wins include wins over FDU, Manhattan, Gallaudet and most recently, UMBC. The only loss that the Black Knights faced during that stretch was a loss to George Washington. Over the past five games, Army has shot 44.2 percent from the floor and 41.3 percent from the three-point line.
RING THE BELL – Sophomore guard Jaxson Bell played a crucial role off the bench for Army this season, now averaging 9.5 points a game and 14.2 points over the past five games. In Army's most recent game, Bell earned his first career double-double with a team-high 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Bell finished Army's game against GW with a team-high 15 points. Against Manhattan, Bell finished with a career-high 19 points, also adding career-highs in made field goals (6), made three-pointers (5) and minutes (31). Against FDU, Bell finished the game with a team-high 16 points alongside adding a career-high seven rebounds, with eight points coming from the free throw line. Bell also finished with 11 points in Army's matchup against Harvard on Nov. 15.
THE BOOGEYMAN – Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway is currently second on the team in scoring efforts for Army, averaging 10.5 points a game while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor. On November 18, Holloway had a career performance, earning a career-best 22 points on the road against Cornell. He also added career-highs in field goals made (9) and three-pointers made (2). His performance also marked his first 20+ point performance in his career. He finished with 11 points in 15 minutes against Gallaudet. Most recently, he finished with a team-high 12 points at UMBC and has scored in double-digits in seven games this season.
JORNADO WARNING – Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup and currently averages 9.1 points a game. Most recently, he scored 11 points at UMBC. The senior had a strong showing against Cornell on the road, finishing with a career-best and game-high 24 points, while tying his career-highs in made field goals (8) and three-pointers made (4). He also had a career-high four made free throws. The game marked the second game Everson has scored 20+ points in a single game.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY – Junior guard Ryan Curry returns for his third season with the Black Knights, currently averaging a team-high 12.8 points a game while adding a team-high 4.5 assists a game. The junior has scored in double digits during nine games this season. The junior scored a season-best 26 points with a career-high eight rebounds and a season-high seven assists against Manhattan. Curry also scored 16 points and had eight rebounds against Marist. He finished with 14 points against FDU. He scored 13 points while adding a game-high six assists at Cornell. He scored 12 points while adding a season-high eight assists plus five rebounds against Gallaudet.
THE WALLET – A key role player for Army, Kevin McCarthy averages 8.9 points a game. In Army's game against Gallaudet on Sunday, the sophomore sharpshooter matched several career-highs, which encompassed points (18) with field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4) and assists (4). Now, he has scored 4+ three-pointers in four games this season, including the game against Gallaudet, which includes Army's matchups between Maritime, St. Thomas and East Texas A&M. He also earned a season-high six rebounds at Cornell. He has finished five games scoring in double-digits this season.
THE SIXTH MAN – Freshman guard Jackson Furman has made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, averaging 10.2 points a game off the bench while averaging 20.0 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high and game-high 20 points against Duke, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman also earned 17 points in his first collegiate game against SUNY Maritime, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000. He earned his first career start against Manhattan and added 11 points against GW and Gallaudet alongside a career-high seven rebounds and three assists.
TATE ON THE BOARD – Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 4.9 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start versus Maritime, eight rebounds against St. Thomas and seven rebounds at Cornell, all three being team-highs. In Army's first two games, he added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas. Laczkowski tied his career-high in points on Nov. 29, earning nine against Manhattan, alongside tying his career-best of two blocks.
FOR THE YOUNG GUNS – The Black Knights' roster will look different this season after graduating an eight-person senior class. Now on the 18-man roster, there are five upperclassmen and 13 underclassmen, with nine sophomores and four freshmen. The new freshmen joining Army include Jackson Furman, Dillon Watt, Dylan Benner and Jahaan Green. Before joining the Academy, Furman, Benner and Green each played a year at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).

Scouting the Bearcats
- Binghamton is 3-10 so far through its nonconference slate, earning wins only against RIT, Misericordia, and Lehigh. The Bearcats have lost four straight since their win against Lehigh.
- Head coach Levell Sanders is 58-77 in his first five seasons with the Bearcats. Sanders' squad has played Army twice during his tenure, and he currently holds a 2-0 record over the Black Knights.
- Demetrius Lilley leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 14.6 points a game and 9.4 rebounds a game. Lilley also shoots 42.6 percent from the floor.
- Jeremiah Quigley also plays a primary role in the offense, averaging 13.1 points a game and a team-high 5.8 assists a game.
- Zyier Beverly rounds out the double-digit scoring for the Bearcats, adding 11.3 points and 5.0 rebounds a game, the second most behind Lilley.
