BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point senior Molly Webber claimed the Patriot League Women's Swimmer of the Week award for her impressive performance at Army's Star Meet against Navy last Saturday.
Webber earned a trio of first place finishes in individual events, breaking both program and meet records in the process.
The Morris Plains, N.J. native opened the afternoon at Navy in the women's 1000 free with a time of 9:50.35 to finish first overall in the event. Her time set a new program record for Army and broke the previous meet record of 9:51.96 set by Navy in 2015.
Webber returned to the pool a few short minutes later where she put up a 1:47.14 in the women's 200 free to claim her second first place finish of the afternoon.
In her third individual event of the meet, Webber added to her stellar performance with a first place finish in the women's 500 free with a 4:48.74 to earn her third consecutive win at the Army-Navy Meet in the 500 free.
Webber's three first place finishes contributed to the close matchup between Army and their service academy rival which came down to the wire.
Webber closed out the afternoon in the women's 400 free relay where she swam as the final leg of her relay group to help post a time of 3:22.81 to earn a second place finish. Webber's relay group continuously increased their pace, ending with a gritty performance from Webber to keep the event tight until the final touch at the wall.
